*Junior Wessex Cancelled due to weather conditions*

I am very sorry to inform you that this weekend’s Junior Wessex Athletics Meet, scheduled for Saturday 7th June 2025, has been cancelled due to the severe weather forecast.

This has not been an easy decision, and we have been monitoring the conditions closely throughout the week. However, with the prospect of thunderstorms, lightning, and winds exceeding 45mph, we must put the safety of all children at the heart of our decision-making.

We know how much the children were looking forward to taking part, and we share in their disappointment. However, the conditions predicted mean it would not be safe or responsible to proceed.

The Event - Information for Schools

Walhampton School is delighted to have so many schools take part in 'The Junior Wessex Athletics Championships’ on Saturday 7th June 2025 held in the Walhampton School grounds.  

Timings 

The first events will start promptly at 9.30am, with the gates open from 8.45am.  Events are for Under 9, Under 10 & Under 11, boys and girls. For children in their correct year group, that is Years 3, 4, 5. Each school may enter one athlete per event. 

Spectators

Parents and spectators are warmly invited to come and support and can enjoy teas and coffees whilst cheering on the runners.
