Walhampton's 4th Whole School Eco Day
Tuesday 8 October 2024
We warmly invite parents, friends of Walhampton and members of the public to attend our Eco Showcase on Tuesday 8th October held in the Walhampton Sports Hall, as part of our 4th Whole School Eco Day. The Showcase is open to the public from 10.00 – 11.45 and exclusively to Walhampton families from 15.45 – 17.00 where you can meet exhibitors and shop from local producers and wildlife organisations.
This year the focus of our Eco Day is food and as a school we will be exploring food production, the future of food and food waste. We'll be asking important questions such as:
Do we have to choose between food production and wildlife?
How are robots helping to grow our food?
What's the problem with food waste
Should we all be eating insects?
As part of the Eco Day, Dr George McGavin (President of Dorset Wildlife Trust & The One Show's insect expert) is visiting us and will be able to sign his latest fact packed book 'The Good Bug' which explains that insects are both fascinating and essential.
